10 days… March 21, 2010

Okay, we are not even talking about the Visa. It was an awful experience. Not because the visa itself was complicated. The main problem I had with the day was the fact that I hate Houston and driving in the area. Traffic in Houston is AWFUL, especially when you are trying to get to the direct center of downtown. Why EVERYBODY is on the road on Thursday at 2pm is beyond me….

But it’s over, the visa should be here next week, and I’m not talking about it anymore. And I learned for next time….mail it.

Moving on, tonight is my going away party. Unfortunately, the last big cold front of the year hit this weekend. *sigh* We’ll just have to find stuff to do indoors. I was really banking on it being warm outside, but apparently father time (trying to do something nice) washed mother nature’s favorite blouse (which happens to be dry clean only) and ruined it so now she’s giving him the cold shoulder.

I decided to make the party potluck, so what i made for the party was this:

Candy Sushi

Tasty looking right? It’s rice krispy treats, colored milk chocolate (for the nigiri), white chocolate, coconut, and dried mango. I didn’t make the recipe up, I found it online here and tried my best to follow the directions. Things I’ve learned: I’m a horrible cook. Thank goodness for Jayna being AN AMAZING cook, because I would have been left with chocolate-krispy mush if I had done this alone.

(More pictures of the sweet sushi are up on flickr.)
